The Destructive Power of Water
Water is a very powerful force that can destroy your foundation if left unchecked. Once water starts becoming noticeable in your basement, the problem has usually snowballed. The visible water you see is only the beginning of your foundation problem. This water indicates substantial water build-up around your foundation walls. If left undisturbed, this water, also known as hydrostatic pressure, can eventually crack your basement walls and floor, causing possible buckling and collapse. Suddenly, small cracks will appear in your basement floor and walls.
The water seeping into your home from these cracks can ruin wallpaper, mildew carpets, warp paneling and rot tile or wood flooring. This water must be captured and redirected from your foundation. If hydrostatic pressure is not redirected away from your foundation, the inevitable will occur. As time passes, the water pressure can produce serious structural defects to your foundation such as major concrete cracking, wall buckling or even collapse.
If your home has:
- Sticking doors and windows
- Doors "out of square" in frame
- Any gap between baseboard and floor
- Cracking foundation walls
- Movement (in or out) of foundation wall
- Wet basement
